Dr. John G. Tuthill
Principal/Highschool Director/Teacher


 Dr. John Tuthill trained as a medieval historian, earning a Ph.D. degree at the University of California at Berkeley.  Following an interesting career in which he served as a history professor at the University of Guam, a Fullbright Scholar at the Ukranian Catholic University, the Vice President of the College of the Marshall Islands, and the Dean of Chief Dull Knife College in Lame Deer, Montana, he retired to Kissimmee, where he became a member of Peace Lutheran Church and, finally, accepted the call to become Principal of Peace Lutheran School.  He lives in an rv resort with a rescue chihuahua mix and two rescue cats and lives in constant wonder at all the blessings God has bestowed upon him.

Mr. Ken Meyer
School Administrator



 Mr. Meyer serves as the Chairman of the Board for Youth and Education and is currently the Peace Lutheran School Site Administrator.

Pastor Lee Kuhns
Religion Teacher


Pastor Kuhns was born by the power of the Holy Spirit into Christ’s death and resurrection through the sacrament of Holy Baptism in January 1962 at Church of the Rock Lutheran in Quincy, MA.  He enjoys being a son and heir of the one true God and lives in his God-given baptismal grace each day. During his teen years in San Diego, he participated in Senior Luther League at Good Shepherd Lutheran.  He was confirmed in his baptismal faith on February 15, 1976.
Upon graduation from high school, Pastor Kuhns joined the U.S. Marine Corps and ultimately obtained the rank of Sergeant and an honorable discharge after six years of service.  He attended and graduated with a BA in Theological Studies from Christ College, Irvine (now Concordia University, Irvine).
The Lord blessed Pastor Kuhns with 23 years of marriage to Donna Bourne (his college sweetheart) before crowning her with eternal glory in 2008.
Pastor Kuhns met and fell in love with his wife Pam Waack at Redeemer by the Sea Lutheran Church in Carlsbad, CA.  They were joined in marriage on April 17, 2010.  They live with Marshamellow, a rambunctious terrier-mix.  Pam and Lee, enjoy God’s creation by hiking, jogging, bicycling, and golfing.  They enjoy God’s gift of everlasting life through Word and Sacrament.
Pastor Kuhns received his Master of Divinity in June of 2013 from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary (Tacoma, WA). During his studies at seminary, he was honored to concurrently serve four years of vicarage at Immanuel Lutheran in Orange, CA. He was ordained and installed in September 2014 at Faith Lutheran in El Campo, TX where he served until November 2019. He humbly accepted the call to Peace Lutheran Church & School and was installed in April 2020. 
Pastor Kuhns looks back in wonder at what God has done in his life to prepare him for ministry and work through him as a pastor in His Church.

Mrs. Katie Krug
Early Childhood Director/VPK



Katie Krug joined the staff at Peace in January of 2015.  Katie graduated from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN with a major in Elementary Education, a major in Early Childhood Education, and a minor in Physical Education. 

Prior to teaching preschool, Katie has taught grade levels from 2nd grade through 6th. Before moving to Kissimmee, she taught at Creative Learning Child Enrichment Center in Wisconsin. There she cared for and taught infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school age children.

In Mrs.Krug's spare time, she loves exploring the beautiful outdoors of Florida with her husband, snuggling her dog, coloring pictures, and dancing to music. 

Miss Ady Demorizi
Preschool Assistant Teacher


Miss Demorizi has been working at Peace Lutheran School since 2015. She is currently working in the preschool room as an aid to Mrs. Krug.
Mrs. Ashley Grangroth



Ashley Grangroth joined the staff at Peace Lutheran School in 2019. She previously taught for 7 years in Sebring, FL where she taught kindergarten for 4 years and 2nd grade for 3 years. 

Ashley graduated from Winona State University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. She currently holds her MN and FL state teaching licenses. She has also achieved her ESOL certifications within the state of Florida. She completed her student teaching in a kindergarten classroom in an elementary school in Coon Rapids, MN. 

Ashley loves spending time with her 2 children and her family. She also loves reading, volleyball, and music. 


Miss Justine Smith
1st & 2nd Grade



Justine Smith joined the faculty of Peace Lutheran School in 2013. She previously taught Kindergarten and in a multi-grade classroom (Grades K through 4) at Trinity Lutheran School in El Paso, TX.

Miss Smith has an Education degree from Martin Luther College and teaching licenses from the states of Florida and Texas.

Her favorite subjects to teach are math and art and she loves finding projects that allow kids to express themselves. She enjoys painting in her spare time.

Mrs. Melanie Achey
3rd & 4th Grade


Melanie Achey joined the faculty at Peace Lutheran School in 2021. She was born and raised in New Ulm, Minnesota, and graduated from Martin Luther College in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and is certified for grades K-12 by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Before graduation, Melanie accepted an “emergency call” to teach 7-8th grade in Burton, Michigan, where she met her husband, Jon. They were married in 2000. After graduation, Melanie was called to be the Learning Center and Before and After School Director at St. Andrew Lutheran School in Chicago, Illinois, where she served for 3 years.
Melanie and Jon have 4 children: Hannah, Jacob, Faith, and Autumn. Melanie continued to work part-time at restaurants and also provided in-home day care services and did substitute teaching while being at home full-time with her children for 14 years.
In 2018, Melanie returned to full-time teaching as a preschool teacher and outreach coordinator at Salem Lutheran Preschool in Woodbury, MN. Her youngest daughter, Autumn, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in 2019. Autumn underwent many rounds of chemotherapy, relapsed in 2020, and received a stem cell transplant from her sister, Faith, on October 6, 2020. Melanie feels overwhelmingly grateful that the Lord has granted Autumn healing and is excited to be back in the classroom at Peace.
In her free time, Melanie loves to travel, play board games, and do devotions with her family. She loves music and singing and also plays piano, organ, and French horn.
Mrs. Amanda Basdeo
5th & 6th Grade

Mrs. Amanda Basdeo is entering her second year at Peace Lutheran School. She was born, and raised in New York City. She graduated from the University of Central Florida in the Spring of 2020 (Go Knights!). She is a Florida, and New York State certified English Language Arts Middle School and High School Teacher. She is currently working towards her Masters Degree in Higher Education at Florida University (Go Gators!), and her Synod Certification at Martin Luther College. In her spare time, she loves to travel, especially back to New York City to be with family. 
Mrs. Tamar Wendland
7th & 8th Grade



 Mrs. Wendland is new to Peace Lutheran Church & School this year.  She and her husband, John, moved from Tacoma, WA this summer.  They have 3 young adult sons living in Tacoma and are Seattle Seahawks fans!  Mrs. Wendland has a bachelor’s degree from Toccoa Falls College, GA in Elementary Education.  She has teaching experience in several grade levels for over 18 years and has participated with international teaching experiences in Ecuador and South Korea. She just completed 10 years of teaching in a Slavic Cultural Christian School in Tacoma where the Russian language was prevalent. She has been a member of the ELS/WELS for 13 years and is thankful for the call to teach and attend the worship services at Peace Lutheran Church and School.  Mrs. Wendland looks forward to living and working in Central Florida and exploring this beautiful state with her husband and their four cats!


Mrs. Andrea LeBlond
Office Manager



Mrs. Andrea LeBlond grew up in Lima, Ohio and graduated from Miami University with a Bachelors degree in Zoology.  She currently also holds a Florida Teaching Certificate for secondary Biology and General Science.

She has lived in Florida since 1999, previously working for a company that provided animal shows for theme parks and zoos all over the country.

Mrs. LeBlond’s interests include exploring the great outdoors with her husband and son, anything to do with animals, and has a passion for musical theater.

She is excited to join the Peace Lutheran team this year!
